For 45 years, Health Action International (HAI) has been at the forefront of the global health equity movement. Our programmes have a positive impact on the lives of people in 36 countries across four continents, and our impact extends even further through our network of partner organisations across the world.
Why do we do this work?
Inequality, overstretched health systems, climate change, the impact of conflict, new technology, and growing costs of medicines and devices are just some of the factors that threaten global health and well-being, with vulnerable and marginalised communities at particular risk of harm. To tackle these threats, HAI focuses on creating long-lasting change to government and industry policies and practices, rather than on temporary fixes.
Just some of what we have achieved in the past year:
- Trained more than 225 youth organisations in advocacy and media engagement to strengthen demand for access to essential sexual and reproductive health services.
- Launched a groundbreaking online tool enabling governments and stakeholders to monitor access to insulin.
- Engaged with healthcare workers across Europe to transform approaches to mis- and disinformation in health.
- Reached over 2,300 schoolchildren in Kenya and Rwanda with our snakebite-prevention comic book and board game.
- Supported countries in the Global South in their pursuit of equity within the World Health Organization Pandemic Agreement negotiations.
Yet, at a time of unprecedented cuts to global health and development budgets, our essential work is under serious threat.
You can help us keep fighting for person-centred health systems.
Even a small contribution can make a meaningful difference. Your support will help us hold the powerful to account, develop evidence-based solutions that protect the right to health, and advance equitable access to affordable medicines and healthcare for all.
