Tim Reed

Tim joined Health Action International in 2005 with more than 20 years of experience in NGO management and medicines policy research. Since becoming the executive director the following year, he has been instrumental in restructuring HAI’s governance and accountability mechanisms.

Tim attained his PhD from the University of Sussex, specialising in the sociology of health and development and the politics of pharmaceutical policy. This makes him one of few people who hold a PhD dedicated to the politics of medicines regulation in Europe.

In addition to being a seasoned and engaging lecturer in health policy, medicines and international development, Tim is widely published in numerous books and peer-reviewed journals, including the British Medical Journal, Science, Technology and Society and Health Risk and Society.
