Tim joined Health Action International in 2006 with more than 20 years of experience in NGO management and medicines policy research. In his time as Executive Director, he was instrumental in restructuring HAI’s governance and accountability mechanisms.
After 20 years at the helm, Tim stepped down from the role of Executive Director in February 2026. Happily, he remains a part of the team, acting as a non-executive advisor, using his knowledge and experience to help guide HAI through a transitionary period.
In addition to being a seasoned and engaging lecturer in health policy, medicines and international development, Tim is widely published in numerous books and peer-reviewed journals, including the British Medical Journal, Science, Technology and Society and Health Risk and Society.
Tim attained his PhD from the University of Sussex, specialising in the sociology of health and development and the politics of pharmaceutical policy.
