Since joining Health Action International in 2009, Renée has worked across a diverse range of portfolios, including coordination of the Medicines Transparency Alliance (MeTA) Secretariat and, more recently, as Deputy Director. In that capacity, she was responsible for programme oversight and human resources.
In March 2026, drawing on her experience, management skills, and in-depth organisational knowledge, Renée took up the mantle of Executive Director.
Before joining HAI, Renée worked as an editor at the Dutch-language medicines periodical, Geneesmiddelenbulletin. Originally from The Netherlands, she holds a degree in Media and Information Management (marketing major) and speaks Dutch, English and a little bit French.
