Janneke joined Health Action International (HAI) in 2019. She is a mixed-methods researcher with a particular interest in patient-provider relationships and participative research methods. At HAI she works on access to sexual and reproductive health commodities, and snakebite antivenom. Since 2021, she also coordinates HAI’s AI and Medicines project, providing expertise on AI in healthcare, patients’ rights, and EU regulation.
Prior to joining HAI, Janneke has studied the involvement of religious communities in HIV prevention and care in South-African townships at the Christian Aids Bureau for Southern Africa, and decision-making processes of individuals with dementia and their care networks in the USA at the Burton Blatt Institute, Syracuse University. Janneke holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and a Research Master in Global Health from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
