In 2018, a coalition of organisations working on global health and tropical medicine around the world, including Health Action International, launched the first-ever International Snakebite Awareness Day to raise awareness of the huge, yet mostly unrecognised, global impact of snakebite.

For this year’s theme, we are asking the question – What was it that made you dedicate your life/career to tackling snakebite? This might be a case story that inspired you to become an active champion, an experience or encounter which drove you to make a difference, a void you saw in your community or country, or something else entirely.

We are asking the global snakebite community for contributions. The aim is to gather inspiring stories which will be shared within and throughout the snakebite community on September 19th using social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  Contributions can be made by preparing a brief video message, a written blog post or simply a photo with two or three sentences on why you dedicated your life/career to tackling snakebite and sharing this on your social channels using the hashtag #SnakebiteDay21.

We look forward to reading why you dedicated your life or career to tackling snakebite!
