International Snakebite Awareness Day 2020 saw the launch of an exciting campaign: Women Champions of Snakebite. In it, we profiled women who are working to end the suffering from this neglected tropical disease. We will continue to profile each of the women on our social media pages over September and October 2020. Follow along on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Previous years
In 2018, a coalition of organisations working on global health and tropical medicine around the world, including Health Action International, launched the first-ever International Snakebite Awareness Day to raise awareness of the huge, yet mostly unrecognised, global impact of snakebite.
In 2019, following the launch of the World Health Organization’s global strategy on snakebite prevention and control, we celebrated International Snakebite Awareness Day by participating in one of a series of international Facebook Live events.
Snakebite Project Manager Ben Waldmann broadcast live to HAI’s Facebook page on the day to discuss what the project have been working on, and where we’re heading towards in the future for snakebite.
