In 2021, we celebrate the centenary of the discovery of insulin followed a year later by the first-person receiving insulin treatment. This ground-breaking milestone changed the outlook for people living with type 1 diabetes from a death sentence to a manageable chronic disease and improved the lives of millions of people living with type 2 diabetes. Yet, 100 years on, affordable access remains a challenge for 1 in 2 people who need insulin.

Health Action International’s ACCISS Study will be holding events and sharing information throughout the centenary year as we continue our work to improve access to this essential medicine.
