Gaby Ooms

As a health scientist with a specialisation in global health, Gaby has been involved in HAI’s research projects since 2016, when she researched access to internationally controlled essential medicines (ICEMs) in Uganda, which was followed by additional research into the mental health treatment gap in Sub-Saharan Africa. She also completed a research project on the compulsory licensing processes in Colombia and Ecuador at the non-governmental organisation, Fundación IFARMA, in Colombia.

Gaby has managed research across HAI’s projects on sexual and reproductive health, snakebite, ICEMs, and Artificial Intelligence since 2017. She is also responsible for HAI’s capacity-strengthening training on all things research.

Gaby holds a BSc in Health Sciences and a Research MSc in Global Health. Since 2019 she is a PhD candidate at the Utrecht Centre for Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation at Utrecht University.
